Effective careers planning means exploring your options early. Our careers team are here to help. Whatever your age, course of study, plans or aspirations, the Careers Service is available to you. Professionally qualified careers advisers are available for consultation on career choice, further study options, presentation and other work place skills, jobsearch, applications/interview procedures and aptitude tests.
The Career Guidance Office contains a wide range of information on careers and further study options. Comprehensive information, internet access, computerised guidance programmes, video library etc., are all available to our students.

Career News for January
The normal application deadline for CAO applications is February 1st. However, there is a reduced application fee of 30 euro payable until January 20th. Students can apply online through www.cao.ie.
Applicants for restricted courses (performing arts, music and art courses) and mature student places must apply by February 1st.
Please ensure you tick the QQI/FET box and include your PPS number on the CAO application form. If this is not done the CAO and Higher Education Institutes will only assess your application on school leaving results.
Students applying for mature student places on UCC Arts faculty courses must complete the MSAP test. A CAO application number is required to register for the MSAP through www.msap.acer.edu. The test will be held in Cork and other centres on March 9th, 2019.
Cork Colleges Progression Scheme
Some places on CIT courses are reserved for students attending the Cork Further Education Colleges. Details on this entry scheme are available on the CIT website. To be eligible for consideration for first year entry you must also apply through the CAO by February 1st. After this you must you also complete an online application form on the CIT website.
Cork IT Advanced Entry
Students applying for entry to the second year of CIT courses must apply through the CAO. Please contact the Career’s office for more information.
Cork IT Engineering, Science and Technology Roadshow
For students interested in courses in these areas the road show will be held in the CIT Student Centre, CIT on Monday, January 14th, starting at 7pm.
The deadline for applying for route B courses (some art, music and performing arts courses) is March 24th.
