CSN Art Department OPEN Studio WEEK

Open Studio Week at CSN Art Dept.

Open Studio Week in the Art Department at Coláiste Stiofáin Naofa is being run in conjunction with our exhibition Mind’s Eye, at Cork Vision Centre @ St. Peter’s, which showcases work from last year’s students, set in exhibition format by CSN students of Arts Administration.
The combining of these events gives your students the opportunity to see the work that our students have produced, check out our facilities, chat to our present students and ask questions about our courses.

 The open studio week will run at CSN, Tramore Road, Cork - from 6th – 10th February from 10am to 1pm and  from 2pm to 3.30pm  each  day.  Mind’s Eye will run from 3rd to 23rd February at The Cork Vision Centre @ St. Peter’s, North Main St., Cork, Tuesdays through Saturdays 10 – 5 PM.   Family workshops will run in conjunction with Mind’s Eye on Saturdays (4th; 11th and 18th Feb.)  11 AM – 1 PM – all ages invited; arts workshops; live music and childrens creative writing workshops.

Coláiste Stiofán Naofa, Department of Art and Design, will open its annual exhibition of student work at Cork Vision Centre @ St. Peter's (N. Main Street) on Thursday evening, February 2nd, from 6-8 PM.  Opening speaker will be Nicki Ffrench Davis, Building Administrator, Cork Civic Trust House, Pope's Quay.  The exhibition runs for the general public from Friday Feb. 3rd through Thursday February 23rd, Tuesdays through Saturday, 10- 5 PM.  Music at the opening will be provided by students of 2nd year Music, Management and Sound from CSN. 
 
Special weekend activities have been organised by CSN students of Arts Administration for 4th; 11th and 18th Fabruary from 11 AM - 1 PM.  Families welcome, ages 2-12, art, writing and music activities will be available, FREE for anyone who is interested in visiting the Centre to avail of the atmosphere of relaxed quality children's arts programming with parents involved.  Live music will be provided by students of Music Management and Sound from CSN on the weekends.  No weekend bookings are necessary - we ask that the public arrive on time for a guided tour of the show,  then supervised arts and writing activities and group projects.
 
We at CSN provide an atmosphere of nurtured creativity, under the theme: Mind's Eye, for the weekends. The activities will include projects dealing with Portraiture; The Environment and Nature.  Weekends will be run on a first come, first served basis.  Parents are asked to stay to enjoy the morning and afternoon sessions.  
 
Work in the show comes from the following courses:  Art, Craft and Design (portfolio course); Creative Textiles Level 6; Creative Ceramics Level 6; Arts Adminstration Level 6; Furniture Design; Multimedia/Digital media; and Access with Design.
 
Explore the breadth of CSN with us at the opening, the month of February and the weekends.  CSN is a City of Cork VEC College of Further Education.  We maintain an Information Desk with brochures, prospectuses, and flyers from courses on the Art and Design courses.

5-ASIDE Soccer

Liam Murphy & Paddy Gleeson will be running an indoor 5-aside competition for the next two Mondays leading into Christmas.

All students are welcome.

If you are interested in participating please refer to the sports notice-boards outside the canteen for more information, as you will need to email in your team names.

CSN Men’s Soccer announce participation in USA Annandale Adidas Cup 2012

Annandale Adidas Cup

Annandale Adidas LogoA squad of 18 players will be selected to travel to Washington between the 8th – 14th March 2012 to compete in the Annandale Adidas Cup showcase. Teams will compete from North and South America as well as various teams from across Europe. Players will be on show to a huge number of University Scholarship scouts. CSN will also play a Division 1 NCAA University during the 6 day tour.

CSN launches new Emergency Service Access Course

CSN's new Emergency Service Access course is aimed at those who wish to work in either the Fire Service or Ambulance service. Learners who successfully complete this one year FETAC level 5 certificate course will gain essential knowledge and skills in areas relevant to these careers and it is envisaged that this course will improve graduates chances of recruitment to either the Fire Service or Ambulance Service. www.emergencyservicestraining.ie
