I have always been very interested in following a career in sports teaching / coaching and as I had been out of education for a number of years, Colaiste Stiofain Noafa and the Coach Education course was an ideal place for me to start. Coach Education helped me to pursue further studies in UCC in Sport Studies and Physical Education. If it was not for CSN, the lecturers and the staff I would not have been able to achieve this.

Eric Marah: FAI/CIT Soccer Facilitator
I started out in Coláiste Stiofáin Naofa where I completed Coach Education over a two year period. This certified me to progress to year two of Recreation and Leisure in CIT.
I then achieved an Honours Business Studies Degree in CIT and a H-Dip in Marketing in NUIG before beginning my career as a full-time Soccer Facilitator.
Coach Education in CSN provided me with a solid foundation, I gained a lot of confidence and hands on experience, and I felt I was more advanced and mature than other students in the CIT Sports course. The Business studies subjects I completed in CSN provided me with enough knowledge to eventually complete an Honours Degree.
The lecturers in CSN were fantastic; they were extremely approachable and always had the student’s best interests at heart. If I had my time all over again, I would most definitely choose the CSN route.
I completed the Coach Education course in CSN and continued futher study obtaining a BTEC Higher National Diploma in Sports and Excerise Science also in CSN. This gave me a great background to the sports and coaching industry and I now run my own successful coaching business in Tipperary.
Premier Sports Coaching endeavors to provide a professional sports coaching service to Schools, Children’s Teams and Youth Clubs in Tipperary and its surrounding areas. We also organise and host Sports Camps, Blitzes and a wide range of physical activities at weekends and during school holidays.
At Premier Sports Coachingour main objectives are to bring sports and exercise to children in their own locality at an affordable price and in a way that encourages participation for all with an emphasis on fun!
Premier Sports Coaching operates under the guidelines set out in the Irish Sports Council’s "Code of Ethics and Good Practice for Children’s Sport".

I completed the Coach Education course in CSN and found
the course excellent and felt it gave me an introduction and background to
the coaching industry.I now run a coaching clinic in America where I teach
parents to coach and understand the Philosphy of coaching young kids.
I also
have my own coaching business for kids from 4-17 years of age in
Connecticut, Lond Island and New york. We employ summer staff for the summer
months from Ireland and will keep in contact with Derek Scanlon in CSN re Students looking for work experience in the States."

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Places are awarded on suitability.
A leaving Certificate or equivalent is required. Experience in the coaching field is viewed positively.
