DURATION
One year.
INTRODUCTION
- This course comprises one intensive year of classical acting training. It is aimed at prospective professionals who have undergone previous training.
- This course may also appeal to experienced performers who wish to supplement their skills by undergoing a rigorous training in the classics.
- This course will suit professional actors with a minimum of two years’ experience and those who demonstrate the ability to train at level 6.
The course is compact and demanding. It is executed through an intensive programme of class-work and performances. The emphasis is on acquiring skill through practical classes.

*These components may be carried forward from the Theatre Performance Year 1 level 5 Certificate.
SPECIAL FEATURES
The Theatre Performance course is taught by professional theatre practitioners. Each year learners perform in three shows for public performance, allowing them an excellent insight into the real work of theatre. Links are maintained with the professional theatre, both through the permanent staff and by regular master classes, offered by visiting theatre professionals in their areas of expertise.
Work Experience
Work Experience (component) is not required as part of this certification. However, all components are assessed through live performance in a production setting thus contributing to on-going work experience.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Leaving Certificate (including LCA). Appropriate approved prior learning (APL), Interview and Audition. In addition, learners will have normally completed the FETAC Level 5 Certificate or LAMDA level 6 or equivalent. A 'cold reading' test will be given at the time of the interview. Mature Students are particularly welcome.

career prospects
Successful completion can provide entry to related higher education courses. The course is primarily designed to prepare learners for drama school audition, professional auditions and to develop an actor’s performance skills and techniques to an advanced professional level. Recent graduates are pursuing drama and theatre studies degrees in universities, others are working as voice over artists, drama teachers and voice coaches.
