DURATION
This is a one year course.
INTRODUCTION
This course aims to provide students with the necessary skills
to enter the world of business. On successful completion of the course,
students will be in a better position to gain employment or progress
on to further study on other business courses.(see below)

- Marketing
- Business Law
- Business Administration
- Accounting (Manual and computerised)
- Word Processing
- Applied Economics
- Communications
WORK EXPERIENCE
Students attend a work placement one day per week in a business
environment.
CAREER PROSPECTS
Graduates of this course are currently employed in areas as
diverse as publishing, tourism, retailing and the Arts as well
as in the manufacturing and financial services sectors.
SPECIAL FEATURES
This course is designed to give students the skillsto enter areas
such as Marketing, Accounting, Human Resources with experience
in the latest I.T. packages for business.
Links to Further and Higher Education
Successful students can progress to the FETAC Level 6 course in Business within the college.
The course is also linked to both Business Studies CR021 and Business Administration CR022 in the Cork Institute of Technology. Links also exist to University College Cork to the Bachelor of Commerce programme CK201 , Bsc. Government CK210 and Food Marketing and Entrepreneurship CK502.
Students can progress to many other business related courses outside of Cork through the CAO as a FETAC applicant if a full award is achieved.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Leaving Certificate or equivalent. All applicants are interviewed
and places awarded on the basis of suitability for the course.
