MEDIA SOCIETY
The CSN Media Society is a society that is
run by students in association with Student
Services. It is a young organisation and is
still in its first year of existence. However, it
has excelled since its formation and has led
to the establishment of a college newspaper.
The newspaper, whose editorial is almost
entirely student based, is made up of both
student and staff contributions.
The Media Association focuses on a very
wide range of topics. Its members involve
themselves in current affairs, politics, sport,
music, computers, film, the latest
technology, design, media analysis,
computer gaming and software, multimedia
technology and concepts, control and
ownership of the media, radio, etc. All of
these subject matters are delved into
through the newspaper columns, as well as
discussions, forums and debates.
The Media Society has had a very promising
start to its career, and with enough
members and enthusiasm, it will reach its
full potential with ease.
FILM CLUB
Students from a broad range of courses
make up the film club which shows films
regularly in the high tech amphitheatre.
Discussions and workshops are held with
emphasis on the production of short films.
Guest speakers drop in from time to time to
share their knowledge and experience.

RUGBY CLUB
Contact: Ray Bourke
CSN Rugby offers competition and coaching
to men and women of all levels of skill. The
mens' team enters the Irish Colleges League
(ICRU) and offers players the opportunity to
be selected for the Munster and Irish college
sides. Last year we had five representatives
on the Munster college side and Brendan
Cutriss (Sports Injuries II) was first choice
number seven with the Irish colleges team v.
Toulouse in the magnificent Toulousien
stadium.
Students of the Diploma in Rugby course
make up the backbone of the CSN team
and they are ably assisted by other players
from the general student body. Training
takes place out of classtime and we play 5/6
competitive league games throughout the
season.
Tag Rugby: This is a very enjoyable non
contact form of Rugby. People play for fun
and we hope to have an internal mixed
league starting in the October term. This is a
great opportunity to get fit and have fun
and get to know other students in the
college. There is a ladies TAG league in
existence and we are actively discussing the
formation of a league with the CIT.
SWIMMING & LIFESAVING CLUB
