DURATION
One year full-time (with option of progressing
to Electronic Technology Level 6 in second year).

INTRODUCTION

One of the largest growth areas with the greatest employment prospects at present is the Electronic and Technology sector. This programme has been designed in close consultation with the Cork Electronic Industry Association (CEIA) and the Cork Institute of Technology (CIT). the course has been designed so that graduates can pursue further training in Manufacturing Technology and Electronic Engineering at C.I.T., as a result of direct links with that college.

SPECIAL FEATURES

The college has a modern Electronics Lab with the latest equipment. The college also has state-of-the-art computer facilities and the most up to date software. Internet access is provided via ISDN network linking students to the Information Superhighway. WORK EXPERIENCE

Work experience in an integral part of the course whereby students work in the Electronics industry for six months. On completion students have the option to enter industry or continue study at CIT depending on results.

Electronic Technician, Electrician, Manufacturing Technician, Hardware Engineer, Test Technician.

 

FURTHER EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

Being directly linked to the Electronic Engineering course in CIT successful students can pursue further courses in the second academic year of: National Certificate/Diploma/Degree course in Electronic Engineering, National Certificate course in Manufacturing Technology.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Leaving Certificate students with five passes (preferably with Physics and Mathematics) OR mature students wishing to return to education. Successful candidates will be offered a place on the basis of suitability.
