DURATION
One year full-time.

INTRODUCTION

The course aims to educate and train students in Automobile Engineering, Plant and Machinery Maintenance. The course is a preparation for direct employment in a garage or related industry. The course also prepares students for entry to third level education in Institutes of Technology.

SPECIAL FEATURES

The college houses a specially equipped workshop where students have access to a broad cross-section of different engine types, parts and components. Students gain important practical experience on working with the different technology and also have the facility to operate appliances used in the testing and servicing of motor and plant equipment.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Supervised work experience in a garage on a weekly or block release basis.

Automobile Technician/Mechanic, Plant Machinery Industries. Mechanic-Plant Fitter, Diesel Mechanic, Auto Electrician, Storeman, Sales Rep., Service Rep.

Institutes of Technology provide a wide range of courses at Certificate, Diploma and Degree levels in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering and Marine Engineering.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Generally Leaving Cert or equivalent. All applicants are interviewed and places are awarded on the basis of suitability.
