DURATION
This is a one year course.

INTRODUCTION

This course aims to provide students with the necessary skills to enter the world of business. The main areas of study are combined with a work placement to enable students to gain valuable and practical work experience. On successful completion of the course, students will be in a better position to gain employment or progress on to further study on other business courses.(see below)

WORK EXPERIENCE

Students attend a work placement one day per week in a business environment.

Graduates of this course are currently employed in areas as diverse as publishing, tourism, retailing and the Arts as well as in the manufacturing and financial services sectors.

SPECIAL FEATURES

This course is designed to give students the skillsto enter areas such as Marketing, Accounting, Human Resources with experience in the latest I.T. packages for business.

FURTHER EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

Successful students have the option to progress on to other courses such as Accounting, Marketing, Business Administration, Office Information Systems, Computer Applications and Financial Services as well as courses in Business Studies, Business and Information Technology, Entrepreneurship, in many of the Institutes of Technology. Links exist also to D.I.T for courses such as Travel, Auctioneering, Marketing , Management and Retail Marketing. Graduates of the course can also progress to BA in Accounting and Human Resource Management in the National College of Ireland. A new link now exists into the Commerce degree and degree in Government and Public Policy in UCC.

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Leaving Certificate or equivalent. All applicants are interviewed and places awarded on the basis of suitability for the course.
