DURATION
One year full-time.
INTRODUCTION
The Art, Craft and Design course is one of the longest established art foundation courses in the country. It is a one-year full-time course and covers all essential areas within Art and Design practice.
The course builds on basic skills and develops students’ confidence in their own work. This approach leads to the development of a strong and individual personal portfolio.
Drawing from observation is central to the course. Our students learn to observe and record from the world around them thus developing creative thinking and design skills. Research through the use of sketchbooks is another important core element.
This course allows students experience a wide range of art and design techniques. See main areas of study below. This process helps students become aware of their personal strengths before embarking on a 3rd level course of study. In fact the majority of our students attain their first choice preference when applying to 3rd level.
We are proud of our reputation for excellent practice, which is due in no small part to the fact that all of our teachers are practicing artists and designers.
It is strongly recommended you see the college and chat with current students ;a visit and talk can be arranged (for groups or individuals) by phoning or e-mailing the course director at the college. Also don’t forget to check out past students work on the Blog page on our website !
