DURATION
One year full-time (with option of second year).

INTRODUCTION

This course has been developed to satisfy the demand for textile training on a local and national level. It will provide excellent tuition for those who have an interest in the diversity of materials and techniques associated with textiles. This multi-disciplined course is both ideas and craft-based. It provides the skills, creativity and facilities to produce a broad range of finished products. The choice of subjects allow for exploration in drawing and design. Ideas will progress into practical projects giving the student confidence and hands-on experience before their final self-directed work.

SECOND YEAR

Students who have successfully completed Level 6, have the option of progressing to the Higher Professional Diploma in Creative Arts >>.

  • Sales presentation for the Arts Sector.

Year 2

CAREER PROSPECTS

Students will emerge with the necessary skills and body of work required, for entry into areas such as Decorative Design, Fashion, Textiles, Display, Design Production, Accessories, or continued study at Third Level.

 

 

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Applications are welcome from all Mature or Post Leaving Certificate students, or those with a FETAC Level 5 Award in Art. Applicants will undergo an interview process. Evidence of creative skills and artistic ability is an advantage. A selection of 12 to 15 pieces of recent work should be available. Sketchbooks/notebooks may be included in portfolio submission.

CERTIFICATION

• FETAC Level 6 Award.
• Level 4 City and Guilds Higher Professional Diploma, Creative Arts.
