INTRODUCTION
Graphic Design is the largest growth area in the design world.
Areas like web page design have exploded the amount of opportunities
for graphic designers. On this course emphasis is focused on graphic
design and drawing with the aid of computers and the latest software
applications to produce professional effects. Graduates of this
course will be well equipped and competent to enter employment
ranging from graphic designer to design related departments of
multimedia and web page design which are growth areas at present.

SPECIAL FEATURES
It is an exciting time to be in Graphics. We are seeing jobs
crop up in every industry for Graphic Designers. This course is
designed for exactly that market. On this course you will learn
to illustrate your ideas and concepts. You will also learn the
computer skills to put your work together in a finished piece,
using industry standard technology. Suddenly you will notice Graphic
images around you that you never noticed before, and you will
see how a sketch becomes a corporate logo and a photograph becomes
a poster. All these skills will get you your first design job
and you will see just how exciting it all is.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Work Experience is an integral part of the course where students
get to sample the work environment. This also provides students
with the opportunity to display their talents and possibly lead
to full-time employment.

FURTHER EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES
Students who have been successful in attaining a FETAC Level
5 award in Graphic Design have advanced to Diploma and Degree
courses in Graphic Design, Art and Design and Multimedia courses
in I.T. Colleges nationally.
We have links with C.I.T where students who complete this course and achieve appropriate grades can apply for 1st or 2nd year on the Design Communications course at C.I.T.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Entry into the Graphic Design Course is on an interview basis
where all mature and Post Leaving Certificate interviewees bring
an Art & Design Portfolio of art related drawings, paintings,
crafts, sketches, logo/poster designs or personal work associated
with graphic design.
