DURATION
One year full-time (with option of second year).
INTRODUCTION
This course is designed for students with existing art, craft
or design skills. The course content in this programme provides
access to technical information and the development of manipulative
skills that compliment and stimulate the growth of
each student’s individual creative personality. Students
will be introduced to a wide range of ceramic processes together
with the formulation of clay and glazes. This course maybe of
particular interest to students who already hold a qualification
in
a fine art related area. As an applied art course it can offer
a further range of employment and self employment prospects to
art practitioners.

CITY & GUILDS MEDAL OF EXCELLENCE
The City & Guilds Medal of Excellence was awarded to a student
of the course in 2001.
FURTHER EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES
Students may use the course as a foundation for further studies
in Ceramics at third level both in Ireland and the UK and may
transfer into second year Ceramics Courses at the Crawford College
of Art and Design, Limerick School of Art and University of
Wales Institute, Cardiff. Students may continue their studies for second year under the City & Guilds Level 4 Higher Professional Diploma, in preparation for studio work.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Pass Leaving Certificate or equivalent. N.C.V.A. Art, Craft and
Design or experience in an art and design related area recommended.
Selection for the course is on the basis of an interview and portfolio
assessment.
