"This course gave me the opportunity to return to education. My own work running a family business meant I could attend the three mornings a week at CSN. I can only speak well of my time at CSN and I am delighted that I did the course and achieved something educationally for myself. All our teachers were fantastic and so encouraging. As older students, it tested us at times to carry on with all of us having other commitments outside the course. I had hoped to gain some part-time work in administration but to date have been unsuccessful and the recession has not helped the situation. I also feel because I have my own business that employers may feel there are others in more need of employment and that it is going against me slightly. I wish the course continued success."

Having left school at fourteen years I did not have a proper education. My writing and numerical skills were very poor. I had very little academic knowledge. I knew nothing about computers. I did not know how to turn one on. I lacked confidence and had very low self-esteem.
In CSN I blossomed, it has been the best experience of my life.I studied Communications, Business Administration, Payroll, Behavioural Studies, Computer Skills & Graphic Design and I got distinctions in all subjects.CSN has helped me to advance to CIT where I successfully completed my Higher Certificate in Business Studies in 2007.
I am now in my third year doing a Business in Management Ordinary Degree and I hope to return next year to do the Honours Degree.I would like to thank the staff of CSN for giving me the opportunity to gain the knowledge and learning experience which the Access to Education course gave me."

"Having been at home for more than ten years, it was important for me to find a course that was with adults only, was on a mornings only basis and that would offer support if needed.
The excellent staff not only taught the modules but they built up my confidence over the duration of the course. While I didn’t pursue a career in the business world, I did succeed in getting a job. I attribute this completely to the encouragement, practical skills, interview techniques etc. that was given in CSN. Also, and more importantly to me the course gently reawakened my interest in learning, in being surrounded by books, in getting lost in a library or totally engrossed in surfing the net. It established my commitment to lifelong learning. I have since completed another two access courses (in different institutions) and have committed to completing a degree course in September 2010.

"It was a big challenge for me to take on the Access with Education with Business and I doubted myself from the beginning. I was put at ease from day one and left after two years with distinctions in all eight modules. I achieved more than I could ever have dreamed of both personally and educationally, I now feel more confident and competent.
Having completed the Access course I went to CIT where I continued to grow as a person and at the end of the two years I now have a Higher Certificate in Business with merit."

I have just completed the Access to Education with Business at CSN. I feel that the high standard of education I received will be of great benefit to me in the future. I really enjoyed the course both educationally and socially. I made great friends there, we really bonded well together in the class and we remain good friends still. All the teachers were really supportive and helpful and encouraged us to reach our full potential. I hope to further my studies by going on to do a Level 6 course in Business & Legal Studies.

"Personally I feel I have gained significantly both on an educational and a personal level from having achieved my Access to Education with Business award last year and consequently progressed onto the Business Studies FETAC Level 6 course at CSN in 2009. There was a marked increase in the level of commitment required for this course, however, I found the gradual immersion into education afforded me by the previous two years meant that I was well equipped to cope."

I started the course as a mature student in 2004 without having a Leaving Certificate. The fact that I had the benefit of completing nine modules over a two-year period made the challenge more achievable for me especially when I was away from education for so long. Since completing the course, I have become a student at CIT. I have just completed a four year Bachelor of Business (Honours) Degree with Accounting. I will continue with a Master’s Degree in Business Studies majoring in Accounting in September 2010.
My progression to date in education would not have been possible had I not had the benefit from the learning, support and confidence building that was provided constantly in CSN. I am so grateful to have had that opportunity given to me."
